Gary D. Simon - Co-Chair
Gary Simon is President and CEO of Acumentrics Corporation, a manufacturer of innovative distributed power products in Westwood, MA. He is also President of Sigma Energy Group, a clean technology investment and advisory firm. He serves on the Boards of Capstone Turbine, SmartPower and Rentricity, as well as the Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance, and the McCllellan Technology incubator. He has a broad-ranging 33-year career in both Fortune 500 companies and in small start-up businesses, in consulting to major energy companies worldwide, and in government service.
Until retiring in October 2002, Gary was the Senior Vice President of corporate strategy and business development at Northeast Utilities, where he had responsibility for corporate R&D, corporate new venture investment, as well as business planning and strategic M&A transactions. In that position, Gary had a major role in over $1.8 billion of transactions, was the head of corporate venture investing, and was a member of the senior management committee.
Previously, Gary was Senior Director and head of the Global Power Practice for Cambridge Energy Associates (CERA) for nine years, and before that for five years was Vice President of sales and marketing for El Paso Natural Gas Company. Mr. Simon also served for four years as the head of forecasting and planning for the California Energy Commission and five years as senior consultant to the energy committees of the California State Assembly.
Mr. Simon has a master’s degree from the University of California, Davis, and a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University.
Mark Henwood - Co-Chair
Mark Henwood is currently developing Camino Energy which provides comprehensive global tracking, accurate segmentation, and analysis of publicly-traded sustainable energy businesses. In addition to his activities at Camino, Mark is the CEO of Henwood Associates, Inc. which is a small hydro electric power producer operating five projects and constructing a sixth.
Previously, Mark grew Henwood Energy Services, Inc. into one of the premier providers of software, information, and consulting services to the global power industry. Mark also serves on the board of PLEXOS Solutions LLC., and manages a diversified portfolio of equities and fixed income. Mark was a board member and advisor to PowerLytix, LLC until April 2008 when it sold to Barclays Capital. He is also active in promoting sustainable energy businesses in Sacramento, CA through his involvement with CleanStart where he is Vice Chairman and with start-ups as a venture partner at Velocity Ventures LLC.
Mr. Henwood has a Bachelor’s degree in Electric Engineering and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Davis and is a resident of Sacramento, California.
